This is because these vehicles offer more ground clearance, more luggage space and more seating for passengers. These cars are also very useful for long journeys. Tata Nexon is making a splash in this category. It continues to top the list of best selling cars in the country. In the sub-compact SUV category, it is followed by Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza. Sales of both these cars are less than Nexon. If we look at the figures for the last month i.e. January 2023, the Nexon SUV available in internal-combustion-engine (ICE) and electric model has been the best-selling sub-compact SUV in the market. Comparing last year’s January record and current year’s record, Nexon sales have increased from 13,816 units to 15,567 units. This number is much higher than the 12,053 units sold in the last month of last year i.e. December.
Price and Model
The Nexon is priced between Rs 7.80 lakh to Rs 14.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Prices for the ‘Red Dark’ variant of the Nexon start at Rs 12.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It can be bought in 8 models. It is available in XE, XM, XM (S), XM+ (S), XZ+, XZ+ (HS), XZ+ (L) and XZ+ (P) Dark and Red Dark editions starting from XZ+, while the Kaziranga edition top model XZ+ and is available on XZA+ trims. 5 people can sit in it. Tata Nexon is also available in electric version.
Engine & Features
The Nexon is available with two engine options. One is a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and the other a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine, which is more powerful. Both the engines are mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed AMT. The Nexon gets all the new-age features including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster with voice commands, a cooled glove box, auto AC with rear vents, cruise control and rain – Also has sensing wipers. The top model comes with ventilated front seats, auto-dimming IRVM, 8-speaker sound system and air purifier with air quality display.
