3 new family cars coming to end the reign of Maruti Ertiga, companies have made preparations

car news desk, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has ruled the compact MPV segment ever since it came into the market. This family car has always been liked for its spacious interiors and performance. Three new models will be introduced in the near future to challenge the Ertiga’s dominance. Currently available within a price range of Rs 8.35 lakh to Rs 12.79 lakh (ex-showroom). Here we will tell you about the cars which are going to compete with Maruti Ertiga.

Citroen 7-Seater MPV
Citroen is reportedly working on a new 3-row model which will be based on the C3 hatchback. The carmaker will also bring a 5-seater variant which will be pitted against the compact SUV. The new Citroën 7-seater MPV may be named C3 Aircross and will be based on the Stellantis CMP architecture. While the base variant will rival the Maruti Ertiga, the higher trims will rival the Kia Carens. Engine specifications of the model are still under the wraps.

Nissan 7-Seater MPV
Nissan India recently announced its plans to expand its product portfolio with 2 new SUVs, 1 new MPV and an all-new Electric Vehicle in the coming years. The plan outlines a new 7-seater MPV that will be based on Renault’s 7-seater Triber. Similar to its donor sibling, the new Nissan MPV will underpin the CMF-A+ platform and come with 1.0L 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine options. Both manual and CVT automatic gearboxes could be on offer.

Toyota Rumian
Toyota Kirloskar Motor to trademark the ‘Rumiyaan’ nameplate in India in 2021. However, no official information has been revealed yet on the timeline of its India launch. This is the re-badged version of the Maruti Ertiga. Some design changes. The Toyota Rumion MPV could get a differently designed front grille, headlamps and a revised rear section. Under the hood, the new Toyota compact MPV will be powered by the same 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder K15C Dualjet engine that powers the Ertiga.
