The company launched the rear wheel drive variant of this car in January itself. The company is going to give a new engine in this off-roader according to the new Real Driving Emission Norms (RDE) or BS5 Phase-Two. The launch of this car can happen soon. Although its pictures have already been leaked on the internet.
How is the new engine?
The new engine found in Thar will be updated according to the new Real Driving Emission Norms (RDE) implemented across the country from 1 April. Accordingly, almost all the companies are updating the engines of their vehicles according to the new norms. The leaked images on the internet reveal that the Thar will soon get updated engines as per the new RDE norms. Also, these engines will be ready to run on E20 fuel.
Currently this engine is available
Currently, the 4X4 variant of the Thar is offered with a choice of 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engines, mated to manual and automatic transmissions. While its real wheel drive variant gets a 1.5-liter diesel engine, which is capable of generating 117 bhp power and 300 Nm torque. Along with this SUV, the company will soon update its other cars as per the new RDE norms.
