Now Kia Seltos will make a splash, will get this powerful engine; Hyundai Creta will be upset

auto news desk, Kia will soon update the Seltos with a BS6 Phase-II compliant engine. The carmaker is likely to update the currently on-board 1.5L regular petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines before April 2023. In this, the company will also offer a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine, but it will take some time. In fact, Hyundai and Kia have decided not to update the 1.4L turbo petrol engine keeping in mind the upcoming BS6 Phase-II emission norms. In place of the 1.4L turbo petrol engine, both the companies will bring a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine. The new 1.5L turbo petrol engine is making its debut on the 2023 Hyundai Verna and the updated Hyundai Alcazar.

Apart from these, this engine can also be seen in Kia Carens in future. Hyundai has also started taking bookings for the 1.5L turbo petrol engine variant of the 2023 Alcazar. This 1.5L turbo petrol engine will generate 160PS power at 5500rpm and 253Nm torque between 1500rpm to 3500rpm. It will have the option of 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

In addition, the Seltos will continue to come with 1.5L regular petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engine options. However, they will be made compliant with BS6 Phase-II and road driving emission norms. There is likely to be some change in the power and torque outputs of both these (petrol and diesel) engines. Hyundai can bring this new 1.5L turbo petrol engine in its Creta as well.
