car news desk, Hyundai Creta has been ruling the C segment for a long time now. SUVs like the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrider, MG Astor, VW Tigun and Skoda Kushaq try to match it, but can’t shake it. However, a new SUV in this segment of Tata is coming soon. Tata showcased its Curve at the Auto Expo in January. It is expected to hit the market next year. Its electric version will also come later.
According to media reports, the ICE version of the Tata Curvv will be around 4.3 meters long. It will fit between the sub-4m Nexon and the 4.6m Harrier in Tata’s portfolio. In this, the Nexon is being built on the extended version of the X1 platform of the compact SUV. You can get 50mm longer wheelbase than Nexon.
It could be powered by the next-gen 1.2-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine, which will be the first model from the brand to come with this engine. A six-speed manual transmission can be found standard with this engine. Apart from this, there will also be an option of automatic transmission. It is also expected to get a bigger 1.5-litre four-cylinder DI turbo petrol engine.
The overall silhouette of the Curve looks sporty with a coupe-like roofline, sharp design language and sleek ORVMs. However, the version we have seen so far is based on concepts. There is a possibility of change in this. The exteriors feature several eye-catching elements like heavy body cladding, large front grille and angled headlights. There is also a connecting light bar at the front and rear.
