Now the company is preparing to sell its EV range through a different channel. Currently Tata Motors sells cars like Tiago EV, Tigor EV and Nexon EV in the country. The company is about to start its 10 outlets in 10 major Tier-2 cities of the country. This decision has been taken by the company to double the sales of its electric passenger vehicles in the financial year 2024. The company has set a target of selling one lakh EVs.
First EV showroom to open in NCR
Tata Motors may set up its first EV showroom in the NCR region. The company is going to invest around Rs 95 lakh to Rs 1 crore to set up a dealership in an area of 6,000-7,000 square feet. Tata dealers will be able to bill EV and ICE models for different companies. While the company’s electric cars will be billed for Tata Passenger Vehicles for petrol and diesel models under Tata Passenger Electric Mobility.
Company sells maximum EV
This separate EV and ICE billing system will continue till the separate sales channels are introduced. For this, Tata dealers will need separate inventory funding for both the businesses. At present, Tata Motors sells 70 percent of electric cars in the country. In January 2023, the company has sold 2,426 units of electric vehicles.
These electric cars of Tata are coming
Tata Motors is preparing to bring many new electric cars in the Indian market, which will be launched in the next few years. At the same time, Tata Punch EV can be launched in the country by the end of this year. This car will be built on Gen 2 architecture i.e. updated Alpha platform. This mini electric SUV will be equipped with Tata’s Ziptron technology and is likely to get a range of around 300-350 km. Along with this, the company is also going to bring Harrier and Safari SUVs in electric version. After this, the Curve and Sierra Electric SUVs will be launched.
