Now the company is planning to launch a new SUV for the Indian markets in the coming days. Foremost among these is its popular SUV Fortuner, which may make a comeback in a new avatar. Apart from the new Fortuner, Toyota may bring two more SUVs. According to a report in Live Mint, Toyota is planning to expand its SUV line in India in the next two to three years. One of these will be based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx to be launched next month.

The upcoming version of the Fortuner SUV could be launched next year. The SUV is likely to come with a new look along with updated interiors and new engine options. It will be based on the company’s TNGA-F architecture. The new Fortuner is also expected to get a hybrid variant, which is likely to be derived from the Innova Highcross. The company is expected to continue with the diesel engine.
Toyota has recently shown confidence in strong hybrid powertrains in the Indian markets. The company has launched the Urban Cruiser Highrider and Innova Highcross in both petrol versions as well as mild hybrid and strong hybrid variants. According to reports, the Japanese carmaker is also working on a new 3-row SUV. In India, it can compete with Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar and Jeep Meridian. It will be based on Toyota’s Corolla Cross SUV.
Cheapest SUV will come
Apart from all this, Toyota is also developing an SUV based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The codename of this latest SUV of the company is A15. According to reports, the design of the Toyota SUV will be influenced by the Yaris Cross model. It is likely to be given a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine and a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine. Hybrid versions of both the engines are also expected to come along.
