auto news desk, MG Motor will launch the upcoming Comet EV in India on April 19, 2023. The Comet EV will be the smallest vehicle in the brand’s Indian portfolio and the smallest all-electric passenger vehicle on sale in the Indian auto market. The prices of the MG Comet EV are also likely to be revealed in the next few months.
MG Comet EV: Smaller than rival Tiago EV
MG Comet EV is based on company SAIC’s GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) Born-EV platform. It measures 2,974mm in length, 1,631mm in height and 1,505mm in width. The Comet EV is a three-door hatchback and the first car to feature such a body style. The four-seat EV will come with a 2,010 mm wheelbase.
MG Comet EV: Powertrain
There is no official information about the powertrain details at the moment, but it is likely that the MG Comet EV will be equipped with a battery capacity of around 20kWh. The battery will be sourced locally from Tata Autocomp and the car could have an ICAT-certified range of around 250 kms. The Comet EV is expected to be equipped with a single, rear-axle motor with around 45hp power output.
MG Comet EV: Interior & Features
The upcoming electric car will come with a two-spoke steering wheel. There will be two control sets on each side. In this, features like audio, navigation, infotainment can be offered to control voice commands.
MG Comet EV: Special Variants and Price
As per reports, the Comet EV will be assembled in India and the MG Comet EV could be positioned as a premium urban electric runabout. Accordingly, its ex-showroom price can be between 10 to 12 lakh rupees.
