auto news desk, Lexus unveiled the fifth-generation RX hybrid SUV earlier this year at the 2023 Auto Expo, but didn’t launch it in India then. Now it has been launched. It is available in two variants – RX 350h Luxury and RX 500h F-Sport+. The RX 350h Luxury costs Rs 95.80 lakh and the RX 500h F-Sport+ costs Rs 1.18 crore. Both the prices are ex-showroom.
The new Lexus RX will be sold through the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route in the Indian market. It will have two engine options. The entry-level RX 350h will be powered by a 2.5-litre in-line NA engine, which will be mated to an electric motor. Its combined output will be 248bhp and 242Nm. According to Lexus, it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 7.9 seconds. Its top speed is 200 kmph. The RX 350h gets a CVT automatic gearbox.
The more powerful RX 500h F-Sport+ gets a 2.4-litre turbo-charged petrol unit with a hybrid electric system, producing a combined output of 366bhp and 460Nm. The RX 500h is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It achieves a speed of 0 to 100 kmph in 6.2 seconds. An all-wheel-drive system is standard on the RX.
It gets a swooping roofline, which shows off the sporty coupe-like styling of the RX. It gets 21-inch alloy wheels. In terms of dimensions, the new-generation Lexus RX measures 4,890mm in overall length, 1,920mm in width and 1,695mm in height. Lexus has increased the wheelbase of the hybrid SUV by 60 mm. So it becomes 2,850 mm. In the market, it will compete with cars like Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE.
