These two new SUVs coming with the intention of defeating Maruti Fronx! ready for launch

auto news desk, Maruti Suzuki has announced the prices of its much-awaited compact crossover Fronx in the country, with prices starting from Rs 7.46 lakh going up to Rs 13.13 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-end variant. The price of its turbo variant starts from Rs. 9.72 lakhs. Well, it will get two new enemy SUVs soon after the launch.

Hyundai’s new Xtor mini SUV will share the platform, powertrain and features with the Grand i10 Nios hatchback. This means that the model could be powered by a 1.2L, 4-cylinder NA petrol engine, which will generate 83bhp power and 114Nm torque. Both manual and AMT gearboxes will be offered in it. The carmaker could also offer it with a 1.0L T-GDi turbo petrol engine, which could generate 120bhp and 175Nm.

The Hyundai Exter could share some of its design elements with the Venue and Creta SUVs. However, its length will be around 3.8 metres. Talking about the features, the Xter can be equipped with features like smartphone connectivity, single-pane electric sunroof, Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology, semi-digital instrument cluster and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment.

Toyota will soon bring a rebadged version of the Frons, which could be named Toyota Raize or Taser. It will be around 4 meters long (slightly shorter). It may get some design elements from the Toyota Yaris Cross, which is sold in select global markets. The SUV will be offered with 1.0L Boosterjet turbo petrol and 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine options up front. Both will feature Suzuki’s mild hybrid technology. Apart from the design, almost everything will be similar to the Franks. Its 1-litre engine will generate 100bhp max power along with 147.6Nm torque while the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine will deliver 90bhp along with 113Nm. There will be three gearbox options with the car – 5-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter automatic and 5-speed AMT. The interior layout and features are likely to be similar to the Francs.
