
car news desk, BMW has released the first set of details and photos of its all-new 5 Series sedan. BMW’s new 5 Series now also gets an all-electric i5 line-up, similar to the i7 in the new 7 Series flagship sedan. The new BMW 5 Series line-up includes petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains apart from the all-electric i5.
design
The styling of the new 5 Series G60 seems to have evolved a lot from the previous generation. The new 5 Series looks conventional like its predecessors, except for the larger grille or different split headlamp design, but is recognizable as a BMW 5 Series through its styling. It looks very advanced. It gets sportier bumpers at both ends with flush-fit door handles, blacked-out inserts and sleek tail-lights like the 7 Series.
Dimensions
The new 5 Series is 85 mm longer, 33 mm wider and almost 35 mm taller and the wheelbase is 20 mm longer than its predecessor. Due to which it can get the legroom of the rear seat. It gets a drag coefficient of 0.23.
BMW 5 Series G60 Interior
The new 5 Series features a new twin-screen cockpit, as seen in other new BMWs including the updated 3 Series, M2 and the new 7 Series. The new iDrive 8.5 system has been given in it. It gets a 12.3-inch driver’s display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen for infotainment duties.
BMW 5 Series G60 Global Platform, Powertrain
The cluster architecture platform has been given in the new 5 Series BMW. It can get ICE or electric drivetrain. The 5 Series global line-up includes the 520i, 520d and 520d xDrive models. Later it will also include 530e and 550e xDrive plug-in hybrids. Apart from this, a 6-cylinder diesel engine can also be given in the future.
The entry-level 520i will get a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine, the 520d a 2.0-litre diesel engine, the 530e a plug-in hybrid 2.0-litre engine and the more powerful 550e plug-in hybrid 3.0-litre inline. 6 cylinder will be available with xdrive engine.
when will launch
The 8th generation BMW 5 Series LWB is expected to be launched in India next year. This car will compete with the Mercedes Benz E-Class sedan. In which a 2.0L and a 3.0L engine option is available.
