
auto news desk, It is now official that Mercedes-Benz will launch the AMG SL55 in India on 22nd June. The ‘SL’ range is one of the brand’s longest-standing names and represents a single line of open-top SL roadsters that were first introduced in 1952 with the 190. The seventh generation of the SL range is expected to be launched in 2022. It was launched in, and it features Mercedes’ new design language. The drop-top gets a fabric roof that can be opened and closed even at speeds up to 40 kmph. The cabin of the car gets a 12.3-inch digital driver display and an adjustable 11.9-inch infotainment screen in the center console. This setup supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, MBUX digital assistant is also seen in it. Other features include ‘Airscarf’ neck-level heating system, heated and ventilated front seats with in-built massage function and Burmester surround sound system.
The SL55 comes with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine that makes 469 bhp power and 699 Nm of peak torque. For transmission, it is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The car gets the AMG 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, which helps it accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 294 kmph. The fifth-generation SL was unveiled here for the first time. When it was sold, it had a lot of fans. Considering that this model will hit our market as a CBU, the SL55 is expected to be priced around Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom).
