Car News Desk – Jeep India (Jeep India) has temporarily stopped production of the petrol version of the Compass (Compass) SUV at its Ranjangaon plant. This has been revealed in media reports. This also means that the Jeep India lineup will no longer have an entry-level petrol model. But the Compass Diesel will continue to be sold in the country. Jeep Compass Petrol is offered in three variants – Sport, Limited (O) and Model S (O). The 1.4-litre Multiair turbo unit generates 160 bhp power and 250 Nm peak torque. The model was launched with a 6-speed manual gearbox, but was only available with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DDCT) till recently. Jeep dealers have also stopped taking bookings for the Compass petrol.
Jeep Compass will be available in diesel version. It has always been the most popular engine option for SUVs. The 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine is expected to be a powerful option with 168 bhp power and 350 Nm peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic transmission, with power being sent to all four wheels via a 4×4 system. Jeep Compass petrol prices start from Rs 22.07 lakh for the Sport trim and go up to Rs 22.07 lakh for the S trim. 28.29 lakh went up to Rs.
Meanwhile, the diesel range starts at Rs 21.44 lakh for the Sport trim, going up to Rs 31.64 lakh for the Model S 4X4 automatic. All these prices are ex-showroom India. The Jeep Compass becomes the only SUV available with a diesel engine since the Citroen C5 Aircross in the mid-size SUV segment. While Hyundai Tucson and Volkswagen Tiguan are also available with petrol engines. The Tiguan is offered only with a petrol engine in this segment. It is not clear whether the Compass petrol will make a comeback later.
