auto news desk, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are planning to introduce more powerful hybrid cars in the Indian market. While Maruti Suzuki is selling the Grand Vitara with a mild hybrid powertrain, Toyota is offering the Hydger and the Innova Highcross with a mild hybrid powertrain. MSIL is also planning to add 3 new strong hybrid cars to its portfolio before the end of the next financial year.
New Swift and DZire
Maruti Suzuki is working on the next-generation Swift and Dzire, which will be launched before the end of the next financial year or by March 2024. Testing of the new Suzuki Swift has already started in overseas markets. The new model will see major changes in terms of styling, features and powertrain. The new model will also get strong hybrid technology, which will be similar to the new Grand Vitara.

The new generation Swift and DZire will be offered with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine with Toyota’s strong hybrid technology. If reports are to be believed then the new Swift Twins will be the most fuel efficient car in the country. The new model is reportedly expected to return a mileage of around 35-40kmpl. The new hybrid versions of Swift and DZire will also meet the upcoming CAFE II norms. The lower variants will continue to be offered with the 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine with manual and AMT.
