auto news desk, Toyota Kirloskar Motor is going to launch a 7 seater SUV very soon in India. This SUV will be the 7 seater version of Toyota Corolla. Currently the company is working on it. If media reports are to be believed then it can be launched this year itself. Toyota is currently selling Corolla in the global market. In the international market, it is being sold only in its smaller version. It currently has a wheelbase of 2.64 meters and has a seating capacity of 5 passengers. The Corolla to be launched in India will be much bigger than this size. It will have a seat for the passenger in the third row, due to which the seating capacity will be 7 seater.
The SUV will be equipped with a powerful engine
Reports suggest that the bigger model will get a bigger grille at the front to differentiate it from the regular Corolla, which will help enhance its front appeal. It is available with a 1.8-litre petrol engine in the international markets, but in India, the new Corolla model could be launched with a 2.0-litre NA petrol engine and a 2.0-litre Strong Hybrid petrol engine. A similar engine is found in the Innova Highcross.
Hybrid engine will prove to be a game changer
The powerful Hybrid Atkinson Cycles TNGA petrol engine could prove to be a game changer for Toyota in this segment. Currently, no company is offering a hybrid engine model in this segment. On the other hand, Japanese auto major Toyota may also launch a new compact coupe SUV similar to the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. It can be launched in India at the end of the year. Furthermore, Toyota will soon launch the 2023 Innova Crysta in India and bookings have already been taken at the dealerships.
