auto news desk, Japanese automaker Toyota Kirloskar Motor is about to bring a new SUV. This new car will be based on the company’s Corolla Cross. But its length will be longer. A 7-seater configuration will be seen in it. In the Indian market, this car will compete with cars like Mahindra XUV 700, Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Meridian. This new model will be based on the company’s modular TNGA-C platform. It will get FWD and AWD system.
How will this car be?
The company uses this TNGA-C platform for its compact cars, crossover SUVs and mid-size MPV unibody vehicles. The same platform has also been used by the company for its new Innova Highcross. Apart from this platform, the new Toyota 7-seater SUV can get the same powertrain as the Innova Highcross. It will come with an electrically operated tailgate and will also feature flat foldable seats. The company can also make changes in its C and D pillars.
What will the powertrain be like?
Based on the Toyota Corollacross, the new 7-seater SUV could get a 2.0L, 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle and a 2.0L petrol engine option from the Innova Highcross. The first engine produces a combined power of 184bhp with the E-Drive transmission. On the other hand, the second petrol engine will come mated to a CVT gearbox and will be capable of producing 172 bhp power and 205 Nm torque. Both the engines could come with a front-wheel drive system. Its hybrid version returns a mileage of 23.24 km/l and the naturally aspirated petrol engine returns a mileage of 16.31 km/l.
Coming Soon Innova Crysta Diesel
Toyota is going to introduce the new Innova Crysta diesel model in the market in the coming weeks. The model will be powered by a 2.4L diesel engine that will be compliant with the new RDE emission norms. This engine will be brought with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This engine is capable of generating 343 Nm of torque and 105PS of maximum power. This MPV will get two drive modes like Eco and Power. The 2023 Toyota Innova Crysta will come in 7 and 8 seater options and 5 color options.
