8% jump in Mahindra sales, but lost here

car news desk, Domestic automaker Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) reported an eight per cent (year-on-year) growth in wholesale sales in February at 58,801 units as against 54,455 units a year ago (February 2022). The company has shared its sales figures for the month of February on Wednesday. Along with this, the company said that in the domestic market, it supplied 30,358 passenger vehicles to distributors in February as against 27,663 vehicles supplied in the same period a year ago (February 2022). That is, there has been an increase of 10 percent in it.

Mahindra has also wholesaled 26,193 commercial vehicles in the last month while in February 2022 it sold 23,978 vehicles. However, Mahindra’s exports declined by 20 per cent to 2,250 vehicles last month as against 2,814 vehicles exported in the year-ago period. That is, in February 2022, the company’s exports have not been good.

Vijay Nakra, head of M&M’s automotive segment, said that the SUV segment is a significant contributor to the company’s sales and has been selling 30,000 SUVs consistently. The recently introduced Thar RWD and XUV400 are also getting good response from the customers. Apart from these, the company’s Scorpio and XUV700 are also getting good customer support. According to media reports, the average waiting time for the Scorpio-N SUV is around 18 months. The diesel variant has a longer waiting period as compared to the petrol variant. Whereas, the Mahindra XUV700 has a waiting period of up to 14 months in select cities. However, some types can be delivered within 12 months. The XUV700 diesel also gets more bookings.
