Hyundai revealed the specification of second generation Kona Electric, see what will be the specialty

auto news desk, Hyundai Motor unveiled its second generation Kona electric SUV in December. But now the company has revealed the details of the powertrain along with the interior and exterior design of this SUV. The second generation Kona will be available in ICE, hybrid and all-electric versions.

Battery and Range

The new Kona Electric will now be available with two powertrain options namely Standard Range and Long Range. The standard model will be equipped with a 48.4kWh battery, coupled to which the electric motor generates an output of 153hp and 250Nm. While the long range gets a bigger 65.4kWh battery which generates 215hp power and 255Nm peak torque with the electric motor. Currently, a 39.2kWh battery pack is available in this car present in the country. Although its range has not been disclosed yet, but it is expected to get a range of more than 490 km.

How is the design?

The new Kona gets a slim wraparound front light bar, clamshell bonnet and chunky off-road design. The EV model gets exterior pixel graphics, while the Hybrid and ICE models get functional air intakes, grilles and skidplates at the front and rear. The pixel graphics and sharp character lines are similar to the Ioniq 5.

The first-gen Kona EV is still listed on the Hyundai India website. Along with this, the company has also recently launched its new electric SUV Ionic 5 in the country.

Competes with MG ZS EV

This car competes with the MG ZS EV in the Indian market, which comes with two different powertrain options. The ex-showroom price of this car is Rs 22.68 lakh.
