As per the latest test by Global NCAP, the Alto K10 performed moderately stable in a front-end crash with an adult passenger’s head hitting the chest. But in case of chest injury in a side collision, its protection is weak. The WagonR performed poorly in the event of an accident with the driver suffering a head injury to the chest.
Maruti gave this clarification
Maruti has said that its vehicles meet India’s crash safety norms. These rules are in line with European standards. When contacted, a Maruti Suzuki spokesperson said that safety is an important issue and hence, governments across the world are making regulations in this regard as they have an obligation to protect their citizens. The spokesperson added, “Safety has always been a top priority for Maruti as well. India’s crash safety regulations are almost at par with European standards. All our models meet these criteria and are certified by the Government of India.
Global NCAP gave this statement
Global NCAP Secretary General Alejandro Furas said, “We are happy to receive positive feedback from Indian automakers and some global automakers. Although there has been some limited improvement.
