Hyundai is going to bring new micro SUV ‘Exter’, will give competition to Tata Punch

auto news desk, Hyundai Motor has launched its new generation Verna sedan in India only last month. Now the company is also going to launch a new micro SUV Xter in the country in the next few months. Codenamed AI3, this micro SUV has been named Hyundai Xtor. This will be the company’s smallest SUV ever. Let’s know how this car will be.

According to some media reports, the company may launch the new Xtor SUV by August 2023. This car will compete with Tata Punch, the best selling car of this segment in the market. Along with this, it will also compete with Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.

Dimensions
The new micro SUV is built on the company’s K1 platform, which also underpinned the second-generation Hyundai Santro. It can get a wheelbase of 2450mm. The length of this car will be 3.8 meters.

The new Hyundai Xter will measure around 3.8 meters in length, which is slightly longer than the 3.6 meters of the Casper SUV. In terms of looks, the new model will be quite different from the Hyundai Casper. Some of its design elements may be similar to the Venue. It is expected to get the signature Hyundai grille with integrated LED daytime running lamps, a rectangular-shaped projector headlamp unit and H-shaped tail-lamps, shark fin antenna. The side profile will feature wheel arches with faux cladding.

The car will get a new semi-digital instrument console and a layered dashboard with a large touchscreen infotainment system. Along with this, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play support, 6 airbags, an electric sunroof, multi-functional steering wheel, automatic AC, reverse parking camera and many other features will be seen.

How will the engine be?
The new Hyundai Xtor will get a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder NA petrol engine, which generates 81bhp power and 114Nm torque. It can get the option of 5-speed manual and AMT. There will also be a CNG powertrain option with a 5-speed manual gearbox. There could also be a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine option with the Venue. This engine generates 120 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque.

Who will compete with?
The micro SUV will compete with the Tata Punch, which gets a 3-cylinder 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
