
auto news desk, Domestic car manufacturer Tata Motors has released the vehicle sales figures for the month of March. Tata Motors has registered its highest ever annual sales in FY2023. The company sold 538,640 passenger vehicles between April 2022 and March 2023, growing 45.43 per cent year-on-year as compared to 370,372 units sold in FY2022. Tata Motors continues to be the third largest player in the PV segment after automakers Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. SUVs like Nexon, Punch, Harrier and Safari have contributed a lot to this growth of Tata.
In the domestic market, the company’s wholesales grew by 3 per cent to 89,351 units. The company said in a statement on Saturday that it had sold 86,718 units in March 2022. According to Tata Motors, last month it sold 44,044 passenger vehicles in the domestic market, as against 42,293 units a year ago. Its commercial vehicle sales declined to 46,823 vehicles from 47,050 vehicles in March a year ago.
89% increase in sales of electric cars
The sales of Tata Motors’ electric cars have also seen a big jump. Tata Motors’ electric vehicle sales grew by 89 per cent to 6,509 units in March 2022 from 3,452 units.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said that a new record has been set for passenger vehicle sales in India during the financial year 2022-23. He added that the pick-up in pending demand due to the pandemic, introduction of new models and improvement in semiconductor conditions led to this rally. While SUVs and EVs drove the most growth, a growing consumer preference for safer vehicles and smarter technology features was equally evident.
