The company has increased the price of this SUV by up to Rs 1.05 lakh. The reason for this increase in prices is the Thar being updated to meet the BS6 Phase-II and RDE emission norms. After the new prices are implemented, the top diesel manual transmission rear wheel drive X (O) version of Thar has now cost Rs 55,000 more. At the same time, the price of Mahindra Thar LX hard top diesel manual transmission rear wheel drive version has now increased by Rs 1.05 lakh. Along with this, the price of its other models has also increased by Rs 28,000.

While the price of the entry-level variant of this SUV has now increased by Rs 55,000. However, to keep the entry level price of this SUV low, the company is preparing to introduce a new base variant. It will be placed below the existing AX (O) variant. But at the moment no other information has been revealed about this new base variant.

Mahindra Thar is available in the market in two versions such as rear-wheel drive and front-wheel drive.
