In this segment, Maruti Suzuki has recently introduced its Fronx SUV based on the Baleno hatchback, which is priced between Rs 7.46 lakh to Rs 13.13 lakh, ex-showroom. But soon to compete with this car, Hyundai and Toyota are going to launch their cars in this segment in the next few months. In which Hyundai will bring the rebadged version of its Exter and Toyota Franks in the market.
Hyundai Exterior
The Hyundai Xtor mini SUV will share the platform, powertrain and features of the company’s Grand i10 Nios hatchback. The car will get a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which generates 83bhp power and 114Nm torque. It will get both manual and AMT gearbox options. It can also get the option of a 1.0L T-GDi turbo petrol engine, which generates 120bhp power and 175Nm torque. Some design elements can be taken from Venue and Creta in this car. Its length will be around 3.8 meters. It is expected to feature a new smartphone connectivity system, single-pane electric sunroof, Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology, semi-digital instrument cluster and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment.
Toyota Coupe SUV
Toyota’s new coupe SUV will be a re-badged version of the Franks. It can be introduced under the name of Rise or Taser. Design elements of the Toyota Yaris Cross can be found in this micro SUV. It can get 1.0L Boosterjet turbo petrol and 1.2L Dualjet petrol engines. The boosterjet engine outputs 147.6Nm/100bhp and the petrol engine outputs 113Nm/90bhp. It will get three gearbox options, which include 5-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter automatic and 5-speed AMT.
