auto news desk, MG Motor India today revealed the variants and pricing of its second and smallest Comet EV electric car in the country. The Comet EV will be available in three finishes – Pace, Play and Plush, priced at Rs 7.78 lakh, Rs 9.28 lakh and Rs 9.98 lakh respectively, all prices ex-showroom. The MG Comet EV competes with Tata’s Tiago EV. Talking about the price of Tiago EV, its base variant costs Rs 8.69 lakh and the high-end variant’s ex-showroom price is Rs 11.99 lakh.
When will the delivery start?
MG has confirmed that the deliveries of the Comet electric car will begin from May 15, 2023. It is to be noted here that these Comet prices are introductory prices only for 5,000 customers.
MG Comet Powertrain
Talking about the powertrain of MG Comet EV, it has a 17.3kWh battery pack while a single electric motor generating 42bhp power and 110Nm torque is included. Its battery is IP67 rated, so water and dust won’t be a problem. On the other hand, talking about the range of the Comet, according to the company, it is capable of running up to 230 km on a single charge. It gets a 3.3kW onboard charger which takes 7 hours to fully charge. MG procured the batteries for the Comet EV from AutoComp.
Dimensions of Comet MG
Talking about the dimensions of MG Comet, it is very compact, measuring 2974 mm in length, 1505 mm in width and 1640 mm in height. While the wheelbase of Comet is 2010 mm. The company has launched this small EV with a lot of features. However, the biggest attraction is its dual 10.25-inch screens. Also wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play have also been given.
Comet MG Features
Talking about the features of MG Comet, keyless entry, 55+ connected features, steering wheel mounted controls, manual AC controls, three USB ports, one touch fold and drop feature on front passenger seat, 50 split rear seats : 50, selector rotary drive , tire pressure is included. Along with this, monitoring system, ABS with EBD, reverse camera, double front airbags and reverse sensors are available.
